Information
Session Organiser: Evagenlos Mitsakis, CERTH-HIT, Greece
The aim of this session is to present the latest research related to the adoption of effective approaches and methodologies enabling optimized traffic management and seamless mobility of passenger and goods, towards interoperability in multimodal transport ecosystem. More specifically, concepts and results from EU-funded research projects - such as SYNCHROMODE, ACUMEN, DELPHI, ORCHESTRA and FRONTIER - and other international innovations will be presented, dealing with relevant topics and case studies. The scope of this session is to highlight the role and impact of novel data sharing schemes and decision-support systems in multimodal transportation, and how they can be sustainably implemented, replicated and widely adopted by stakeholders, as well as to foster discussions for knowledge and best practices exchange globally.
The outcomes from this session will include:
- Regulatory and technical challenges related to the adoption of multimodal passenger and freight transportation and corresponding approaches to support collaboration;
- Methodologies for harmonization of data models that exploit diverse resources ensuring data security, privacy, integration and resilience;
- New innovative approaches for tackling congestion for all modes, through advanced multimodal network and traffic management approaches;
- Expected economic, environmental, societal, safety and security impacts and benefits of multimodal network and traffic management.
