SIS 31 AI and ITS applications
Information
Session Organiser: Mario Toscano, Drive Engineering Corp., United States
Many urban centers around the world are experiencing unprecedented economic development and increased transportation demands. Transportation in cities includes a diverse mix of travel modes; however, the ability for most cities to increase traffic capacity through traditional roadway widening is limited. Therefore, many agencies are deploying innovative applications to address mobility needs within the constraints of existing roadways while increasing the efficiency of operations in all modes of vehicular, multi-modal, and pedestrian transportation. As transportation systems continue to become more connected, agencies are leveraging smart infrastructure, connected vehicle technologies, edge computing, artificial intelligence, advanced Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, ITS, and adaptive traffic signal systems to better manage traffic and increase the safety, efficiency, and eco-friendliness of travel. This session will explore how AI and ITS are being used by agencies to create smart, connected, and efficient transportation systems.
