Information

Transportation officials throughout the world use vehicle scales and Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) scales and sensors to monitor and classify traffic, identify overloaded vehicles, and enforce weight limits. Vehicle weight enforcement increases safety for the drivers, and allows officials to protect infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and tunnels from being damaged by overweight vehicles. To achieve these goals, portable and in-ground weighing is used at speeds ranging from static weights up to 65 mph (105 kmh) and above.
